Every time I have trained shoulders for the past few weeks I pull a muscle in my back or neck. This always happens when doing dumbbell shoulder presses. I dont usually have this problem... any ideas?

I get them from time to time. Just have to massage them alot during the daytime and I found that really helped
Warm up and do some stretches especially shoulder shrug ones.
Make sure you are warming up properly and stretching as much as you can. As marcus stated above, i've had the same thing happen to me a couple times because i didn't stretch enough.
I remember pulling something in my neck while doing clean and presses on the press, gota be careful man , try to keep the neck as stable as possible. But I know the feeling, not painful just annoying, couldnt even look down at my chest, but it got better the next day or 2, is this happening on a weekly basis? usually only happened to me when I got really careless

Been happening the past couple of shoulder workouts... That's a good idea maybe I will do some light shrugs to warm up with.. maybe even a set of pull ups too just to loosen up my back muscles
Yeah definitely take a look at your warmup. If it continues, cut out the exercises that cause it until the problems subside then try to slowly integrate them back into your routine.

Great place to start researching ! http://forums.steroid.com/anabolic-s...-database.html
Shrugs and the stretching as mentioned above. Also, try some slow neck and shoulder rolls focusing on really stretching your neck muscles, especially @ areas adjacent to the trap tie ins.

Yeah a lot of pros like to pre exhaust their delts by doing dumbbell laterals or machine so this would be another suitable warm up just to get some blood in there, then move on to their heavy pressing. or if your rear delts are lagging you could start with the rear delt machine just to get some blood in there and loosen up that area.
I always start with rear delts first and some rotator cuff exercises so I always thought I was warmed up enough by the time I got to shoulder presses but I guess the shoulder presses put some strain on the connecting muscles so I will incorporate those muscles into my warm up from now on and see how that goes.
