    My newest hobby

The wife and I have been kayaking for the past two years but have always rented a kayak for the day. Decided that since we seem to be making this a habit and want to go more and more often, we better just go ahead and buy one, so here she is!!

Absolutely!! I've never been on one but it's plainly obvious that a paddle board would be an excellent core workout

I paddle board. It's an awesome core workout. I was surprised how effective for lower abs especially.

Yes, just the balancing on the board alone is an excellent core workout. Throw in paddling and I'd venture to say that you have a great workout.

I practiced martial arts for years but had to give it up when my school closed. Now, I'm just too old to try and take that up again, so I'm gearing up to give yoga a try. It's a little intimidating as I know it's way more than just stretching. But hoping for a good core workout from it as well.

Yoga is awesome. I feel best the day after yoga. I haven't been going regularly for 2 years and my body is much tighter that negatively impacting workouts. I need to get back into it. Thx for the push!

I always go kayaking when I go up to glacier park or Juneau. It's awesome to take in the scenery and the animals! very peaceful.

I live in colorado now, and the scenary sucks (everything sucks in colorado), so i'd rather just jump in something with a very large motor.

The 2nd wife and I had a couple similar to those, single person kayaks and also a larger 2 person with a rudder on the back. Had some good times kayaking local lakes, ocean and rivers.

Had an interesting time in one river where we got into some trouble around some snags and the wife flipped and went under one of the trees/snags and I jumped in and pulled her out. Then I had to run down stream to try to catch a dry bag that got loose and ALMOST ended up under a snag myself where the river narrowed down from 30 ft down to 15 ft and bruised a couple ribs against a tree trying not to go under. Yeah that was fun.... Not.

Do not get to comfortable and think nothing will happen. People drown all the time in kayaks. Stay safe.

Thanks lovbyts. Yes, you are right, people drown kayaking. Someone drown here this year under exactly the same circumstances you described. Glad to hear you avoided any serious injury or worse.
