Neither is best since they achieve different things.
Under hand means you are forced to use the lats and a lot more bicep.
Over hand means you can better isolate the posterior delts and it works the forearms and brachs more.
Both work the main part of the back pretty much the same, so it depends what you want to concentrate on in the other areas.

Like he flexor said, they are both hitting the back, but the difference in hand positions will change the indirect muscles affected. I like to do this with dumbells. Start with an overhand grip and rotate to underhand as you bring it to your chest.

On a less important note, I've switched to underhand rows to work my biceps since straight barbell curls are knackering my wrists and the underside of my forearms. If I see good results I'll stick with!!! otherwise its just a nice break from pumping the buns the ole' fashioned way...
