    Wrist straps

I am going to start using wrist wraps with some of my heavy lifts. This morning at the gym (it's always empty when I go) I decided to figure out how to work them during my resting time between sets. I'm pretty sure I have it correct, but I want to make sure so I can obtain better grip.

I put my wrist through the hole and wrap the strap around the bar starting underneath. Is this correct?

For deadlifts I use false grip, would both straps go underneath the bar regardless of hand positioning?

I go over the bar, going under it will allow the barbell/dumbbell to roll out. . .

Over for me as well - this way when you lift the weight the pressure applied locks the strap in.

so the strap should go over the bar? Does this matter if palms are down (ie:bent over barbell row) or up (ie:barbell curl), or should strap always go over the bar regardless of which way the palm is facing.

so these steps I found on the internet are false:

-Put your hand through the circle made by the strap.
-With your palms facing up the straps should lay between your thumb and index finger on both hands.
-Snug the strap tight around the wrist.
-Place your hands on the bar with the strap hanging towards the floor.
-Pull the strap under the bar and back over the top, repeat.
-Twist the bar towards you to tighten the straps.

and it should look like this:

also as shown in the picture, if his palms were down, would it be done the same way

You will know that you did it right when you rotate your hand the the strap will become tight. Couple of things you may try also to get good practice is to try wraping them on smaller bars. This will give you a little more slack and allow you to rotate them. It took some time. My left had always needs help with my right to get started then my right hand I can flip it and rotate.
    Good luck.
