I like to take a dumbell in each hand, start light to see what you can do. Now lean stomach first onto a free incline bench, not one w/ racks, be carefull, it will seem like the bench is going to tip over but it wont. now w/ your chest against the incline bench and your arms dangaling down, pull the weight up to your chest slow and back down slow. It's like a t bar row but I feel it a lot more.

If you can isolate your back muscles well enough, you can try pull overs.

There was another thread about this.

Bent over rows are good. Shrugs. You can do dead lifts if you have heavy dumbells.

Bent over rows, one arm rows, dead lifts, bent over raises(same position as rows except you move your arms up like in a lateral raise but be careful doing this).

It's much easier to work your back with a barbell and also a pull down machine. Pulldowns are a great exercise for your back.

I prefer wide grip chins and behind the neck for my lats. Narrow grip chins are good too.
