This may sound dumb, but I have heard that the AS is so you can work harder with less than a week inbetween.

example:

no AS - 1 time every 7 days

on AS - 1 time every 3 or 4 days

Hence that when on AS you can workout more.

Now I am probably wrong, can someone explain all this to me?
