    peaking exercise

I was wondering if you guys ever heard of "peaking exercise"?

This PT at my gym told me I had a long bi. He told me I had to do peaking exercises on my bi to help it stand up more? I searched here and the web and couldn't find anything.

Peaking exercises if Im reading you right, is elevating your bicep muscle so it comes to that classic peak many bodybuilders have.

For peak it is said that concentration curls work very well. Incline Dumbell Curls with the twist of the wrist and hard concentration at the top also works well.

Cable Curls with a bar supposedly works as well for building peak.

I personally like an exercise called spider curls....lay chest down on the incline bench with a barbell let you arms hang down and do strict curls without moving your elbows. Kind of like concentration curls but using both arms simultaneously.

    Hope this helps....

Bicep peak comes down to genetics, some guys have longer thicker biceps and others can develope a peak.

Ways to develope more a peak is to do twisting motions when you curl and really squeeze the biceps at the top of the movement. Also changing up your grip will work the different heads of the biceps, using a closer grip will work the outer head of the biceps and from an outside angle you will appear to have more peak.

+1 on the twisting motions but be sure to have a very very HARD contraction at the top of your movement. Make it hurt.

I don't believe in that "peaking exercise" BS - IMO, it's gym/magazine folklore... your biceps' shape is by-and-large and factor of what Mom and Dad have given you. Stick to mostly heavy free weights and keep developing them through proper form and tension with a progressive overload and they'll grow... if you have long arms - you simply will need more mass to really get a nice peak; when you do - you'll look like an animal. Short guys bulk faster - but if tall guys put in the time and consume enough food, they can eventuall shadow the shorter ones...

Quite honestly - most of the people I see in the gym waste so much time working through all the cables, pulleys and medieval biceps machines... and "if" they do a barbell curl - they never extend their elbows and get a good stretch; doing what amounts to a back extension and not a bicep curl.

I do partly agree with you that your musclular appereance is based largely off of your body type and genetics. But I don't think that it HURTS to do any of the exercises that are mentioned for peaking....You need to take things with a grain of salt and just expirement with what works best for your individual needs.

As to the people who sit in the gym and only do cable curls, pulleys and bicep machines etc they are wasting there time, that I do agree with you on warrior. I always love to see people get on the preacher bench with 45 plates on each side of the ez-curl bar and only do a quarter of the range of motion you should be doing. Knowledge is power.

Which Incline curl are you talking about, incline dumbell curls laying on your back. Or the Spider curls which I mentioned earlier? If you are doing the spider curls I also use the Ez-Curl bar as it is much easier on my wrists/forearms.

    I wouldnt worry about "peaking"

It was best explained to me once where if you take two ballons one short and round the other long and skinny and inflate them with air, they will always have the same shape but they will be bigger.

dont use an exercise to peak or shape a muscle, use it to add variety and increase hypertrophy.

Well i have long biceps..What i do for biceps is i do not do full range of motion instead i perform 3/4 range of motion..Learnt it from flex wheeler..
