Metabolism. Everyone is different. You have to find your ballance point. But the obvious answer seems to be "Your normal meals are putting you at a caloric deficit."

There are lots of things to consider here: callories, Macros, timing of the meals. But the bottome line is you will respond differently to food than anyone else. You just have to learn your body.
