Not true really...... depends on your setup. Using a web based account is not secure, and sites like gmail store everything you type even if you delete it. Also using your ISP is not a good idea either. So.... simply set up an smtp relay on you machine and use a mail client to sent messages directly from you to the recipient. One option you could look at is 'easy smtp server'

Another option is using a web based mail service but sending the message body in an encrypted file only you and the recipient can access - loads of ways to do that.

If you really want REAL security then you will have to set up your own mail server and send everything encrypted..... (Not that hard but cost coin unless you use unlicensed software but you still need a domain and they guy on the other end still has you messages stored as evidence).

BTW check the CoolFish post in this forum for the file encryption software and get the download.... Compsci don't do it anymore I think....

Keptprivate NOT secure for steroid discussions!

Received the following letter from Keptprivate.com when I asked about security of e-mail.

    Hi,

I understand your concerns, but those statements are false. KeptPrivate
privacy has never been an issue. In order to somewhat prove the
statement i am making here, i will show you some simple logic.

2 keptprivate subscribers, send mail to each other, the message never
leaves our network, nor our servers. So unless they have some guys that
can teleport into our locked cages and steal our drives, no data is
    going anywhere.

The examples could go more, but it's a simple question of logic. We do
comply with laws as well, BUT, unless we're facing some drug dealers, or child porn, the privacy of our users stays the way it should stay. And
    that is PRIVATE.

We don't know what other companies policies are regarding privacy, and i
am not going to comment that. At KeptPrivate we are focused on our
    users, and their privacy.

I hope i answered your questions in a pleasant manner.

    Rares
