That video showed a legitimate use of force as the man tried to resist arrest and assault a police officer, the officer would have been within in his right to use his firearm on that person. That is the only time that a taser can be legitimately used, is in lieu of deadly force, as I have said about three thousand times before in previous threads. Let me say it again, the taser can only be used IN LIEU OF DEADLY FORCE.

That means, the taser is the step BEFORE drawing your firearm, and the step AFTER physical force, pepper spray, and a PR-24.

If you are walking down the street, a cop cannot indiscriminately ask to see your identification with no reasonable suspicion what so ever. He cannot ask you to present ID because he "feels" like it or he has a whim to do so.

There seems to be a whole lot of America bashing lately. Unfortunately, I didn't pay much attention in my government class in high school, but I believe we vote to get these fools in office. Maybe not the president because he is elected by the electoral college, but we elect the state legislators. I do not want to get off on a tangent here, so to my real point.

These are state police, right? So this has nothing to do with our president. It is up to us as countrymen to make a change. By spreading the message, and electing people that want to make the changes the public wants at the state level. Not electing the man that has the most money to spend on a campaign. It's up to us to know the issues and to vote for the people who we feel best suited to do the job. So if anything, we are to blame.

in south florida its the law, if you dont have your id on south beach or the strip you can/will be arrested, ive seen the cops arrest people just for that.

I think it's funny how many people watch that and think it's "This Country" that has the issue. This is a perfect example of individual flaw. Those officers were ignorant and obviously not familiar with law at all. A bad choice on their part and they should have been diciplined for their actions.

Ok, lets all ignore the specifics about whether or not you are REQUIRED to show ID or not. Although, I dont think you should be trying to make the cops job any easier for him. Regardless, the point of these type of videos is to show the conditioning that the authoritys are putting into place. It is the slippery slope effect that we are trying to warn against. It is best we recognize it now before we are all required to carry our papers. It is a huge danger to our free society if a national ID card should ever be implemented. That is because the system once put in place is subject to abuses of power. People that can be tracked at all times is a danger, the ways in which it can be abused are numerous!

It is a good post, but obviously there are two conflicting sides. I understand both, but still think the lady should have just given her ID and been on her way. Of course she had the right to do what she did, therefore in the long run, she will prevail and probably win some money over it. My point is that even though she is right, she wasted at least one day proving it. just checked this with a state trooper buddy of mine. absolutely true! i have a few friend in the NYPD, philly pd, NY, NJ, and PA state police as well as local small towns cops. all say the same thing. the less of a prick you act like, the better the chance they will let you go. they also tell me if you drive close to the speed limit, 9 out of ten times they wouldnt have any reason to pull you over in the first place!!!

This afternoon, Sunday, in a rural area (it happens to be a dry county), I saw a checkpoint. Cars were being stopped going both directions.

I was just going to the grocery store on a routine errand. I am a law-abiding citizen with no arrests (ever) and no recent traffic citations. (no gear either - still learning)

I turned around and went home when I saw the flashing lights and stopped cars in the distance. I believe in my 4th Amendment rights.

I believe that we are being "tested" to see how much intrusion we will "put up with."
