    Try with leaning forward and then back as well, I feel like I hit them from different angles that way.

    Thats a good idea. it would prob. b easiest on the smith machine to do that. Shrugs are the shit 4 shoulders! I always do them at the end. Tops off the workout!

    Don't roll them !

    Doing heavy deads i no longer train my traps directly but when i did, heavy BB with grip inside shoulders width straight up and down. When you get to the top try and pause/contract for a second or two, lower and repeat.
