Maybe they do no know what to do...why don't you offer to give them some advise.

Maybe they give up because they do not know where to start, and they do not see results because they do not know what they are doing.

I was extremly obese...5'9 305lbs of fat when I started working out...it would have ment the world to me to have someone offer up a little help without charging me $75 an hour. If you haven't been there, you would not understand the amount of courage it takes to even step into a gym at that size. How dumb you feel even being there. Knowing that people like you, love to give condisending looks, and snickers, instead of offering up a bit of free advise.

You know what kept me in the gym...I made a friend that trained people there. Made me forget about looking stupid and feeling like I didn't even belong in a gym. I looked forward to talking to him, which kept me going, even when I didn,t feel like working out....

    Just food for thought.
I never said I look at them in a mean way, matter of fact any one who knows me personally knows that I help people on the street that I don't even know or ever met. I went as far as sheltering strangers who need help. so don't tell me that I could have made any one feel studip or dumb. on the other hand here are few REAL conversations I had with some out of shape members:

    1) I see this obese woman trying to do pull downs triceps wiht her elbows swinging up and down, completely out of form.
The Conversation: Hello, how are you today, I see that you are working out your triceps, My name is ........ I'm the GM personal training here, I could show you a method to maximize your work out results, can I?
the member: Oh thank you, but Iam a personal trainer my self.
and she was a 5'8" to 5'9" no less than 275 lbs!!!!!

    2) I see this member doing lunges with her knee looks like its going to pop out, completely wrong form

    The conversation:
    same intro as above almost
the member: no thank you I have a trainer.

    3) an obese member who is 41% BF, he said that his Dr. told him his LDL is 320
the guy is 5'1" 163 lbs.

He agrees to recieve the FREE session upon signing his membership agreement.

once I start with talking about weight training benefits and cardio...etc
He goes like, uh, where is this going now, this looks like a cheap sales approach and started to puff. I said sorry if it sounded like that to you.
it is a free session and if you don't like to continue then that's ok, just sign here that you refused it.

do you want me to list more?!!

no need to. there are plenty of idiots at every gym who cant or wont let themselves be helped. all you can do is try, if they dont want the help, you know you tried to do the rt thing

Doing it as your job does not count...

FYI offering a free sesion is a cheap sales tactic...but that is your job...to get clients.

I bet you would get a completely different response if you were in your street clothes and workingout yourself.

I am not trying to call you out...well, I guess I was, but I apologize for doing so. I apparently misunderstood the feelings behind this thread.
