he always saves the world because He is a good man and you can believe in him to save the world. He is good in the pursuit of happiness did not save the world just his family. we need people like him to remind us what matters. it gets blurry between reality tv show re-runs and trashy gossip mags and shows.

    Very good rebuttal.

    -----------------------

Although he is often a savior of some-thing/-one/-place with cop credentials or qualities, the characters, scenarios and conditions of said salvation vary enough to warrant continued interest. But yeah, he and Martin Lawrence are indeed most often cop-ish:
    • Bad Boys I & II - He's just a good-hearted, trust funded, playboy cop.
    • Independence Day - Chip on his shoulder having, alien fighting military pilot pseudo-cop.
    • Enemy of the State - On the run, fighting the powers that be lawyer/citizen who was the mock-up of a cop.
    • WWWest - Savvy, mild-mannered gun slinging, ice water in his veins, old west secret service cop.
    • Men in Black I, II & III - Street smart, hood hardened/trained extra-terrestrial monitoring above the system cop.
    • IRobot - Uniquely qualified, surgically enhanced, overly suspicious future cop.
    • Shark Tale - Animated, grandiose dreaming, underwater shark gangster policing, heroic near cop.
    • I Am Legend - Futuristic military scientist, mutated society battling, humanity preserving semi-cop.
    • Hancock - Planet protecting, supernatural power possessing, bad guy stopping superhero cop.

    -------

But conversely there are several films/roles in which he has clearly displayed both comedic and dramatic range/depth that were not even cop-related such as:
    • Six Degrees of Separation
    • Made in America
    • The Legend of Bagger Vance
    • Ali
    • Hitch

Personally, I like the guy and his films. To paraphrase SVT, "You get your money's worth out of Will."
