Ruhls a nice guy but he will argue about nearly anything and everything. It's just his personality, I think he finds pleasure in conflict and enjoys being right all the time, so of course it's working against him, because nobody wants to hang out with someone who is "always right"/

well i definitely don't talk to anyone i don't know unless they're trying to talk to me. And since i know like 150 people that go there maybe and i'll only talk to maybe 30 of those when i see them i guess yes i'm pretty much mute around school.
i struggle with the liking people question.....I'd like to say that i do sometimes but part of me says no we hate everyone. I dunno what happened, only thing i can come up with is that when i used to be teased it had a pretty drastic impact on me and the thoughts and opinions i form about people, in a negative way. I'll on occasion try to see bad in people i think just to give me an excuse not to talk to them.
and no i don't think i'm boring actually....I think i can be fun to be around, may be rare in my current psychological state but the most happiness i've had in the last year was working out at metroflex so maybe i am boring i don't know.

I'll argue most things......and since i'm in the bible belt that comes up ALL THE TIME and i wont tolerate preaching toward me, I'll argue that there can in no way shape or form be a god and heaven and all that bullshit all day long. And part of the reason i think i wont tolerate that especially is that before i ever got fat the churchies made fun of me for those thoughts, on a daily basis in elementary school.
that's pretty accurate.....i like being right.....and no one else enjoys when i'm right. I don't really know how to "loosen up" i don't think.....and drinking is not an answer for me.....that never loosened me up when i tried it anyway only thing it changed about me personality wise was i'd argue and talk louder and louder.

Yeh I think the problem is once you withdraw from socializing after a while you will need some reinforcement to make you content in your isolated state.

The thing about the teasing makes me wonder if your a lonely child, or if you just lived in a family where teasing didn't happen a lot.
In my family, with 4 older brothers, I was teased relentlessly. But I aslo learned how to tease back, and even when I couldn't, I still thought it was funny.
I just never took it seriously, even outside my family.
And yeh, a job can be huge too.
Even maybe a job on campus that forces you to interact with people.

Everyone likes being right. One doctor I met at school (history prof) who is a brilliant atheist and has all the evidence in the world (in his mind) to prove god doesn't exist, also is intelligent enough to understand, as far out the idea, he can't really prove it.
And under that fact alone, he will debate his beliefs, but never to the extent where he'll tell someone "your wrong, god doesn't exist". That little bit of openmindedness shows how smart he really is. Because a closedmind is like a brain with out oxygen, its useless.

My problem with Ruhl, and I'll get specific.
Is how fake he is w/out realizing.
He doesn't like associating with people, has all the reasons in the world to not have friends or not like people.
But day after day, week after week, he comes here, and talks to people, acts like a normal dude with issues, and doesn't runaway from us when we say something he doesn't like.
But in REAL LIFE he does.
So untill he can understand something, that I'm frankly not understanding at all, nothings going to change.
But I also think he spends more time bullshitting himself then he does thinking people are bullshitting with him, what ever that means.

Ruhl. Don't commit the same mistakes I did. Now I'm not at Uni any more. On one side, that's good bc i'm not a good student and i hate doing things because I'm forced to...but on the other your comments sounds too familiar to me...
I used to be like you, probably much worse, when I was a pre-teen. My situation...well a total uprooted. I was the smallest guy, the youngest (cos they made me jump a whole year), the shyest, most sensitive, spent my free time devouring books, a complete antisocial, always picked...If it wasn't for my anxiety and the agressivity I would've been bullyed...at age 11 I was expelled from school for 6 weeks for crushing a chair on a guy who atempted to bully me. Well at some point I went from one extreme to another. In the way I had a brief 1 year flirt whith misanthropy and only finding strenght in Cioran, Nietzsche and all those kind of brilliant but bitter dudes. Now I'm 22, years fall so fast...Now I'm complete cynic. I can't feel fvcking nothing and its afwul. Thats empowering because you have the power to do anything cos you don't give a shit. Now I'm an elitist, actualy I'm what I hated as a kid: a lider, lider of a group of elitists. I didn't even choose that, they chose me bc I didn't give a shit about anything. But in the end the results are the same. You have few people around bc they others are so intimidated. Some times they can approach me and they eventually leave cos I'm unable to have a real empathy. (And always pushing what I believe are irrefutable arguments, which mostly are, and thats worse cos nobody like someone who's always right. They make them feel useless. It's just how social dinamics work. Play them, seriously. Say "ok" or "thats right" etc even if you think what they say is moronic) .It sucks. I can't have a gf...while not at first they eventually want some sort of love which I'm unable to give. I'm don't socialize. To me its all arithetics. Socializing is a videogame. Thats the onlu way I can feel something: fun and adrenaline. Do I feel bad for myself? Not even that i feel. I feel bad for a lot of things but not for that.
So, try not to be so extreme. Yes social clubs sound patheic. I think they are. But you know what? I'd rather be a pathetic normal guy than the elite robocop machine that I'm now. I'm working on it together with my psikiatrist.
