    70% protein is extreme overkill and 70% carbs is the same you need a proper balance of the 3, that being said try things out naturally dont expect to gain more then 3lbs a month max unless you dont care about gaining fat, generally 2lbs of muscle all natty is optimal and the most you should expect but it will read about 3lbs on the scale because of glycogen storage and water retention in the new muscle try different ratios like 40/40/20 or whatever but you asked my reasons, now you have them, good luck

    thanks mate, 40/40/20 sounds reasonable but what about the 35/45/20 in your initial response ??

    id said that because thats what i use but 40/40/20 is like baseline and then you tweak from there

    ^^^agreed!

    to sonysucks, 1 gram of protein and carbs is each = to 4 calories and 1 gram of fat is = to 9 calories... These are the standards, but don't expect the numbers of grams per macro to come out equalling the total number of calories per serving.
