i had an 07 r6 and loved it but wished i had went with the r1 because they told me it had to much power and ide kill myself so i went in debt 11 grand for the r6 and wanted a different one in 3 months i ended up selling it and am going for an r1 or gsxr1000 this spring. the only thing i wish i did was test drive them, get a buddy who has one or a local shop like i have here that has a strip and lets u test them and sit on them make sure your comfy because they can get uncomfy very fast when your out riding them, wrists go numb, back hurts, etc. just try them out be safe but dont get something youll regret right off the bat and its too late u allready dropped a 3,000 dollar down payment like i did.
R6 is a nice bike. R1 may be a bit big for starters. Up to you though. Respect.
I would never recommend a 1000 for a first bike. Just learning throttle alone is enough to kill you on a big bike.
Start off with a used 600 then after a few years move up in size. You may also find you like a 600 better. Tell you the truth i like riding my wifes gsxr 600 much better the my 1000.
have your checked out the 05 model zx6r 636 kawasaki ?
there not a bad looking bike either and you can pick them up for a good price
and f*** do they go like the clappers.
More of a hog man myself,,,, but i would recomend doing a advanced riding course so you could get the most out of what you get......
have you had a look at some 05' kawasaki zx6r 636's ?
not a bad bike and a bang for your buck.
good luck !
yeah my brother owns one, he baught it not to long ago for about 9k australian with about 12,000 km's on it which is a fairly good price over here. and i mean its bright green so how can you be missed in the traffic ?
personally i think its the best looking 05 model bike on the mraket.
imo the r6 doesnt start looking good till the 06 model, were as for an 05 model bike the zx6r(636) is the best looking bike on the market and it also has an extra 36cc worth of power.
and if you really want the deal clencher ???
look at their tacho its all electric!
looks sick at night
sorry about the rant, forgot to answer your question.
depending on which model you want either can be more expensive.
and my brother went straight onto a 600cc bike no problems as long as your sensible
if you buy a 250 your going to loose money on it.
but then again its upto you.
A 250 is a joke but a 6 is a real machine.
People always think bigger is better. This is not the case here. You will have plenty of powder to learn how to ride a have fun. With laws now a days having bikes bigger then a 6 is hard. You have all this powder and speed limits are 65. WTF
Beside all the guys who buy big bikes to learn on do one of two thing. 1. kill them self or 2. never learn how to ride to there fullest.
I can take a 600 and beat 99% of people with 1000 in a street race any day of the week. Its not the bikes its the riders. The bikes can out perform any rider as it is 600-1300.
