I've been doing front and regular squats for years now. My question is why is it this past few weeks my lower back hurts while doing this exercises.
Any Ideas? thanks a lot!

are you on cylce?
have you changed body position at all?
have you increased weight significantly
I used to be able to squat 600, but had to stop cause of herniated discs in my lower back
, might want to take it easy for a few weeks and do other leg work that doesn't pinge your back
i can't squat a lot now without my lower back hurting, so
i do a ton of leg extensions
and a TON litterally of Leg press machine
I also work hammies with the leg extention machine standing backwards on it
You may have an inflamed disc. might want to get it checked if it persists, get some anti inflammatory drugs in you maybe
either way , take it easy with squats for a couple of weeks
hope its nothing major....i needed to disc surgeries
Can you be more descriptive on the pain?
i asked about being on cycle, cause sometimes you can get wicked back "pumps" that hurt a lot, but your not on cylce, so
might just be straining the back while squatting
I have taken 5lb plates before and set them on floor and put my heels on them while squatting, to get a better body position, some say that works, you can try it to see if it relieves some back pressure
I'm already doing that! I'll just try to lift lighter.
Take a couple weeks off from heavy squats like everyone said, see how it feels after that. Then gradually work back up to heavy weights if it feels ok.
I have the same thing, Doc told me mine was degenerative bone's disease aka old age![]()
Yup, getting old/older sucks. After years or heavy lifting or even doing it once the wrong way can cause disk compression. Hopefully it's only a temporary effect in your case but can easily be permanent or even debilitating in some cases that I'm all to well aware of.![]()
