Why did you quote me? Nothing you said has any relevance to my statement.

Because of what you said about not putting faith in scientific method. Science is a continualy evolving method, there is no such thing as scientific fact, things just get scientifically verified.

But Science has opened up the worlds eyes a Hell of a lot more than religion has.

I'll place my faith in science over the Bibles.

I meant I wouldn't put my faith in carbon dating. There is absolutely no way to prove that the method is accurate in prehistoric cases. That just means when I hear someone make a statement like "this is x million years old" and try to pass it off as proven fact, I'll know their full of shit.

Most programs and books are good about using the words "scientists estimate", which is proper. Some sources state their estimates with certainty, and that is misleading for a lot of people.

I'm sure you can agree that there is currently no possible way to determine whether carbon 14 dating is accurate. After all, fossils don't come with date stamps.

And please, don't accuse me of being religious just because I don't agree with someone's theory. It's arrogant of you and it's insulting to me. I don't have a problem with religion, people can do whatever they want to. It's just not my crowd.

While you are sort of correct that there is no way to prove with certainty that carbon dating is 100% accurate, there an overwhelming amount of data which suggests that the estimates provided by carbon dating are fairly reliable. Radio isotope dating is not limited to C14. It can be done with any isotope whith slow radioactive decay. The data produced from other radio isotopes is in close agreement with that from carbon dating.

There is a principle in science know as occums razor. Basically it says that the simplest explaination is probably accurate. So what do you think is more likely:

God created the earth and everything on it about 5000 years ago in 7 days (only data to support this is a book writen by people who believed the earth was flat)

or the earth has been around much longer and people as well as all other life slowly evolved to be as we are today.

BTW carbon dating really isn't used to explain evolution, just to create a timeline of when certain things happened. Evolution can be observed in real time in bacteria. Blah Blah Blah, noone is listening anyway, don't know why I can't resist responding.

I'm not even sure how to respond to this. Nothing that I've said has anything to do with religious beliefs or evolution.

I'm glad we can agree carbon dating can not be proven accurate in all instances.

Sorry I assumed that since you chimed in about carbon dating you were part of the religion crowd who first brought up carbon dating. My bad.

    And we don't agree.
