He didn't hang himself:

It's hard to say which is preferable: believing that a loved one was so full of despair that he or she took her own life, or that they died during a stupid accident while indulging in a deviant sex act. This is what David Carradine's family is dealing with as it appears more and more that he died during a failed attempt at auto-erotic asphyxiation.

Coupled with this is the release of crime scene photos, 'profoundly disturbing' the family, which show his body with his hands clearly restrained above him. While the image is blacked out to protect the identity of the corpse, the Thai police confirm they believe it's a forensic photo of Carradine, and his family has responded with disbelief and disgust. t's not uncommon for more morbid photos to be released in other countries: privacy isn't as coveted, and doubtlessly these went for a lot of money. Subsequently, pictures of his body laid out on the autopsy slab have also made it into circulation.

However, the hands being tied above him DO indicate a problem, as it would seem a second person had to be present during the act. Maybe a prostitute? It is, after all, Thailand. This same evidence has the family asking the FBI to look into the death, because the Thai police are adamant that it was an accidental suicide.

Meanwhile, nothing says 'opportunity' like the death of a famous person to bring every scumbag into the limelight. Enter an ex-wife to stage left, who's currently engaged in a touching smear of memorials, accusing Carradine of being a pervert who's marriage to her ended based on his passion for sexual deviance, including incest. All of this might be true, hey, except it's pretty damn convenient that none of it came up until right after his death. She claims her hands were tied due to their divorce agreement, which leads to this question: if you find something so sour and heinous about a person, do you remain mum about it just to stay on their alimony pay roll? This reeks of bitterness and a need for attention. How considerate towards all the family members still reeling over his death. The only valid thing this woman has to say is that he was capable of tying himself up, which would be evidence to the contrary of an outsider presence.
A New York City coroner will perform a second autopsy, although it seems the problem in this case is not so much how he died, but why.
