murilo, I never pledge allegiance to the flag anymore. To me a flag is a rag, a piece of cloth. It has no intrinsic value. It can stand for "the land of the free and the home of the brave" as some of the founders envisioned, or it can stand for "the land of decree and the home of the slave" into which it has morphed. When others are saying the pledge, if you're standing close enough you'll hear me say:

I pledge allegiance to the founding principles of THESE United States of America and to the republicS which they created, fifty sovereign States, divisible, under God, with liberty and justice for all.

Blome, you had the beginning about right, but we definitely do not have a Federation today. The Constitution, as it was reported out of the Convention was a blueprint for, as you said, a national government. It was to be a government of, by, and for the super rich. That's how economic royalist Hamilton designed it. Fortunately, men like Jefferson, Methacton Smith, and Richard Henry Lee saw what it was and delayed the tyranny temporarily by insisting on the Bill of Rights. Despite that, Hamilton was able to start us on the downhill by convincing Washington to set up a national bank, probably under the control of the Bank of England. With the exception of a few bumps, it's been downhill all the way.

peachfuzz, after trying for 35 years to make people realize that our country is being deliberately and systematically destroyed with little result, it's banging it against the wall that makes my head hurt.

BTW, blome, if you think we have a federal system, read the regionalism post in my lostliberty blog and take a look at this website:

You'll see that the States are now conquered provinces of the Washingtonian Empire. I used to be active in counterpolitics with the guy who runs it. When I was associated with him, he had a forty foot basement filled with bookcases and file cabinets that were, in turn, filled with books, documents, and clippings. He was what I call a Conspiracy Watcher. Most of his adult life he'd been following the machinations of the bastahds (that's Bostonian) who've been destroying us, but he'd also inherited much of it from an elderly Philadelphia woman who'd been doing the same most of hers. What he has up is only a drop in the bucket of what he has, but it's enough to keep most people occupied for a long time.

I guess the Federal system did technically end in 1865.
