Blome, you had the beginning about right, but we definitely do not have a Federation today. The Constitution, as it was reported out of the Convention was a blueprint for, as you said, a national government. It was to be a government of, by, and for the super rich. That's how economic royalist Hamilton designed it. Fortunately, men like Jefferson, Methacton Smith, and Richard Henry Lee saw what it was and delayed the tyranny temporarily by insisting on the Bill of Rights. Despite that, Hamilton was able to start us on the downhill by convincing Washington to set up a national bank, probably under the control of the Bank of England. With the exception of a few bumps, it's been downhill all the way.
