This is news to me, link?
Yes, Nolvadex is a 1960's by product drug, but I really don't know if its use was widespread in bodybuilding at the time, I mean SERMS become a necessity not too long ago for each cycle (before bodybuilders didnt do PCT's) so I find it hard to believe that Arnold or others around his time period were being prescribed a brand new drug at the time (Nolvadex) for PCT. Remember this was a breast cancer fighting drug and I think it is safe to say its effects on HPTA in male's coming of steroid cycles was not discovered till years later.
We were using the Nolvadex for gyno, your right we didnt know it helped stimulate test production we used the HCG for getting our test levels back up.
I dont believe they stayed on them all year,i think they cycled their training and AAS.During the off season the used heavier doses and different compounds and didnt worry about being lean.Decca was the favorite bulking compound back then and test. We had Jeff king give a seminar at one of our contest after he won the Mr USA,he said he didnt use anything for a year before the contest and traind hard and when he started the ASS he said he got a very good response to them.
Arnold himself said he used steroids to maintain weight nearing competitions so your point is mute. I fully believe Arnold used steroids most of the year, sure there were small periods where he got off, but knowing Arnold and his desire to win he would be on that stuff like butter on bread.
Arnold had to be an abuser or else he wouldn't have needed heart surgery.
