Bo it is not possible for the law to change once oyu have been convicted and the law affect you unless you are sentenced to death and they do away with the death penalty after you have been sentenced. So I dont know what you are talking about here. If you were sentenced under a certain legistlative session then you are bound by that. An example, I was sentenced under the 70th legislature which meant that since a weapon was involved, an aggravating circumstance, my parole eligibility was based of off doing 25% of my sentence flat (no good time earned). The law changed several times while I was in prison for the 9 years and 7 months, to where you had to do 50% but it had no bearing on me because of the law my crime was committed under and I was sentenced under.

Furthermore, I personally know people who had their death sentence commuted and now have life and are in population, and are some of the happiest people I know. Death row fvcks with your head like nothing else. Ernest Hemmingways "For Whom The Bell Tolls" syndrome so to speak. No way in hell I know anyone who would prefer death over life in prison. I was locked up with some famous people like David Brooks and Elmer Wayne Henley who I was on the same block with. Dennis Watson, Gregory Knighten, and many many more. No way they want death over life.

I dont know what kiddie park you were at brother but any seasoned vic doesnt fear time he embraces it and makes a life for himself. I got caught fvcking a guard in there, and yes it was a female smart ass! These guys need to be on death row with bare essentials. Johnnie sacks for all three meals, shower every three days and rec in a small room with only a pull up bar. Solid doors with only those sulfur yellow lamps they have in the hole. While they wait for their turn in the fvcking chair champ.

I'm not gonna sit here and try to interpret the law cause I think even a lawyer might say "its not as simple" as you and me think.
But I do know we had this conversation several times and the 1 guy who had 14 years (for murder) was a paralegal and authority on the subject always spoke about changing laws.

The last thing I would ever suspect him to be was an idiot. And if inmates are released due to something as miminal as overpopulation, (even murderers are set free) I'm sure changes in law are often fought in court on an inmates behalf. Evenso, it was always on the topic of murder and whether you'd prefer life or death. Not lesser convictions like drugs.

And as far as "kiddie parks" it was a medium security prison, in leesburg NJ. Guys were commonly transfered there from Trenton State and Rahway, so yeh we could go microwave our food when we wanted, but you were still surrounded by murders/rapists, and as any "seasoned vic" would know, "kiddie camps" have reputations for being worse then most max facilities in terms of frequency of violence.

Younger inmates are always trying to get a name for themself, and when I WAS transfered from a true "kiddie camp" to an adult prison, the adult prison although more intimidating at first, felt MUCH safer towards the end. Throw me in an adult facility any day of the week over a kiddie camp, I'm serious.

Overall you did do much more time then me, but I saw guys who did 25 years and never even got into a single brawl. (what a quality problem it must be to get a blue sheet for fvckn a guard) For some reason everytime I was transferred some new shit was going on. And if I had to do 5 more years (if I maxed out) I didnt really see me "settling" into any sort of peaceful routine. When I went in I was 5'4" 145lbs, some white "rich" kid from the burbs, so I was the main object of torment by many poor unprivelaged gang members. I had no option but to tolerate it, and I WISH I could have "embraced" that whole experience.

I realize a large topic of talk for older inmates is how stupid the younger inmates are, and Ill admit I don't know shit about the law, but I think everyones experience in prison is drastically different from one person to another. You sound like you had a somewhat decent experience. But I would def describe mine more in terms of an all out "nightmare".
