It's not saying it's outside your control, it's saying feelings (or thoughts) that we choose not to control, and thus end up controlling us can be sinful.

Like, if I get so pissed at my ex fiance who left me on Valentines day and ended up being a cheating little whore, and I start thinking fvcked up thoughts about her...I can choose to let it go, and control those thoughts or let it take over me.

But, yah, my answer is pride for sure.
