oh come on, your the one getting all technical w/ volumes and calling out the parrot to explain when he did have a valid point... compounds that induce greater water retention need greater water intake for proper physiological functions and happy organelles so you would need greater intake of water.. then you state that monitoring your urine output isnt ideal because people take multivitamins?? hell man might as well bust out my micrometer to measure my urine stream as well to make sure it is proper orientation to my urethra?
there are tons of things that cause urine discoloration.. and the BRIGHT YELLOW color from vitamine E doesnt last all day, and if your urine is neon green/yellow all day from your multivitamin, then that in itself is a sign you need more water.. the discoloration should only last 2 urinations or there about.. not all day.
the validity is he was stating you need a greater water intake in general.. granted his amount is too linear just as your responses were too specific as well.. 3-5 liters? .. so you know on heavy training days a person will perspire 2 extra liters from their training session? ... see.. i can poke holes your advice as well.. but from years of experience and coming to the realization that everyone is different and there are so many variables out there- i try to give advice that a person can utilize to MONITOR THEIR SELF.. in lou of a Drink X amount Checklist.. if your urine is a light yellow/clear.. then you need greater water intake.. if your taking (insert anything here) that can cause a color change in ones urine then they should notice that off the bat and as well as the need for greater water intake.
there is NO set amount..
time release vits discolour for alot of toilets trips, as i said 3-5ltrs is a good solid guideline which doesnt leave much margin of error, has worked well for me and clients ive personal trained. your not the only one with years of experience mate, im speaking from 17yrs experience and third level education in sport science.
