1.- Weight training triggers the release of arachidonic acid.
2.- Arachidonic acid (the guilty one of your soreness) triggers inflamation via prostaglandins
3.- Prostaglandins are highly related to growth hormone's such as MGF (mecano growth factor) and IGF-1 (Insulin-like growth factor), then, those to HGH... And that means at high term muscle gain.

If you interrupt this whole process by taking NSAID's, forget about your training induced muscle growth AT LEAST for that day.

It depends on the dose for sure... But if you're not dying in agony of pain, why bother and sabotage your daily hard work in the gym?

Use it only when it's REALLY necessary. And if you're going to hurt your progress already, at least make it count and take something stronger. As it would be diclofenac sodium via I.M or I.V or simply hidrocodone... If you get it.

Note that acetaminophen (Paracetamol; Tylenol) is not on this list. LIST OF NSAIDS. Acetaminophen belongs to a class of drugs called analgesics (pain relievers) and antipyretics (fever reducers). The exact mechanism of action of acetaminophen is not known. Acetaminophen relieves pain by elevating the pain threshold, that is, by requiring a greater amount of pain to develop before it is felt by a person. It reduces fever through its action on the heat-regulating center of the brain. Specifically, it tells the center to lower the body's temperature when the temperature is elevated. Acetaminophen relieves pain in mild arthritis but has no effect on the underlying inflammation, redness and swelling of the joint.

Im not going to give you a hard time. But Tylenol is hard on the liver. My wife is taking it now, she has two broken arms. The DR's told her it's hard on her liver. Tylenol does not decrease inflammation.

no. damn people exaggerate this stuff so much. May it effect protein synthesis yes. It doesn't reduce it to zero. Your workout wasnt lost and like Red said you will not build any muscle that day is BS.

If you need to take something take it. I wouldnt make it an everyday habit.

I think you are missing his point. The question is how badly does tylenol affect gains. AAS obviously improves gains, tylenol doesn't. I don't think he was speaking in terms of general health

Tylenol is not going to do anything to your gains. Ive read reports that ibuprofen can, but even this is very minor. If you have pain treat it. I personally would stay away from tylenol. With everything we do, we don't need something else that's taxing our liver.

youre totally right on this, aspirin is the anti-inflamotory not tylenol
but are you saying that it does not hinder gains then?
