I also go one step further but not as far as others it seems, I dont use cotton balls or pads and soak them in alcohol, I by the pre packaged pads that are sterile. They are cheap.

OP:
Your gear will be fine. Continue using it (unless youve tossed it). If you received antibiotics from the doctor you'll be covered from any bacteria or whatever.
And dont refrigerate your gear. Store it in a drawer in your bedroom or something. In a cool dry place away from sunlight.
Just bought some today.
As for other comments - I haven't thrown out the gear but like I said before, I'm now super gun shy. I was so careful with things so I don't know how I could of missed a step.
I don't think its the gear to tell the truth. I've shot twice in two different location (right quad, right delt) and one I got infected, left quad.
The swelling is down now but its still bit uncomfortable to walk and that quad looks like it belongs in big fat slop (right quad is all cut up - funny look).
I'll try my left delt tomorrow morning - I guess only one way to find out and I'm on anti-biotic anyway, so I'll probably never know.
Thanks guys, wish I had a smoother 1st cycle.
