    cutting workout questions

    Hey guys,

Just wondering I've spent quite a few years working out and was pretty fit 5'6" 178lbs. I never really split my workouts into bulking and cutting I really just ran my ass off, ate right and for the most part did my exercises at 5-8 reps for 4 sets increasing the weight on the last set until i could complete all my reps then increase the last two sets the next time I did that exercise and so on.

I was just wondering if in a "cutting" workout routine should I doing 12-15 reps less weight as I have heard or something else. Is there a routine posted anywhere?

    Never.

HEAVY compound movements should be the cornerstone of your workouts.

The picture of me in my avatar; I did no cardio work whatsoever - just very heavy lifting.

    Heavy burns more fat. Simple.

Cutting comes from your diet, not your workout. The same sets/rep range are to be used at a lower caloric intake to maintain the muscle that you gained at a higher caloric intake.

Being in a calorie deficit (cutting) already puts you at risk for losing muscle, switching from heavy movements to lighter/higher reps just compounds the problem. What built the muscle, keeps the muscle.

So what are you recommending ? i always hear ppl cut then bulk, well if i cut ( diet ) i get weak...which sucks so is there a median ?

would cutting be lower weight at higher reps with Diet and bulking be high weight with lower reps ?
