The red yeast rice available OTC today is devoid of the active ingredient that made it effective. The ****ing FDA decided that it was cutting into their Lovastatin sales (same active ingredient), so they made sure to ban anything with a decent active extract content for OTC sale.
Also, you would not want to use Lovastatin (or any statin) because they are liver toxic, so you'd kinda be shooting yourself in the foot there. Also, (and I forget the explanation) statins won't help to correct cholesterol while still using the offending compound, only after.
You're not gonna drop dead from poor lipids for 3 weeks.

And there is no need to take more than 20mg/day of Nolva, since recent studies have shown no benefit to using 40mg vs 20mg. Just more side effects.
