    Midlife Crisis?

Not exactly... But with my luck quite possibly. I'm 22 (Almost 23) years old, and already feel like I'm having one. I'm stationed in Missouri for the Air Force (not willingly), and my job's not very exciting. I'm a firefighter, but nothing ever happens on an Air Force base, I'm going on 2 years here and nothing! I do the same thing day in and day out, and come home to my lovely wife who I love, don't get me wrong, but I'm just bored of being here. Everything is just so mundane, we have a little money to spend on "fun" stuff every two weeks for us to go out and do something, but it's not really "living" by my standards. I wish my wife and I could just go out and do stuff... Travel, see exotic places, taste exotic things, meet exotic people. I want to see the world... I know I'm still young, but it feels like I'm wasting my youth here... I hate feeling stuck.

That's not mid life crisis. That is just not settling for the norm or average, not wanting to be more. NOTHING wrong with that as long as you learn how to focus it you can be QUITE successful.

Keep things in perspective, DONT let debt control you but learn how to control your money to make it work for you instead of you working for it like MOST of us do.

Dont be afraid to get out and make a change, just try to have a plan.

If I had it to do over again I would have a LOT less stuff to tie me down. I have spent the last couple years trying to collect less and get rid of what I dont need/use but it will still take a while.

If you do n ot have a lot of bills and are living on base housing just save for a trip or something. I was in the service and made the mistake of aquiring a lot of credit at a young age and it has bit me in the ass in a big way. I will never buy a new car or have a credit card again unless it's a secured credit card. The only bill I want to have is when my girlfriend and I get a house in 2 years. Check out the area and see what you can do for free. Here in New Hampshire there is lots to do for free. Good luck with everything and try not to let the boredom get you down.

I'll stop whining as soon as you start using spell check. Anyways... I'm just doing a boredom rant. I think what initiated it is my strange schedule right now, 7:30 at night till 7:30 in the morning. Although it is only 1 day out of a week like this, it still seems like an eternity. And as far as doing stuff, if you like hunting and fishing, that's all there is really to do in the "local" area... Oh, besides go out drinking. Anything else is a drive and usually requires money. Only good thing is the time seems to be going by quick, and hopefully I get picked up for an overseas assignment soon.

Just for the record "Whinging" is actually a word. It means to complain.

To the Op i think lovbyts Nailed it. Imo if this job isn't providing you with the finances and lifestyle you would like you need change, but you need to stick this job out until you are certain you have an opportunity elsewhere.
