    steroids cause brain cell damage?

I was doing some research and came across some articles saying that steroids can damage brain cells due to the excitotoxicity caused from elevated levels of testosterone. So to all the experienced users here, do you notice any difference in your cognitive abilities since you start using? Such as difficulty concentrating, memory problems, learning difficulties or anything related??

If anything, I feel sharper, more alert when on, especially at lower doses.

I'd be interested to see the studies you referenced.

Lots of studies show that low doses of Testosterone are indeed protective, while large (VERY) doses increased cell death. Estrogen also has been show to cause increases in cell death in various studies. Many studies (using testosterone and anastrozole) indicate that the amount of aromatization may play a key role in whether the effects are neuroprotective or neurodestructive.

The long and short seems to be that tons of research are being done and so far it seems that the amount of hormones present in cell can affect the rate of glutamate "excitotoxicity" induced cell death.

In conclusion from what I have read testosterone or other androgen levels are a secondary factor, not a causative agent and have seen nothing in these studies to indicate that scientist see otherwise.

yup it was.. but im asking users here directly if theyve ever noticed any effect.. so really that earlier post is useless to me..

and i did a cycle of tbol a few months back, and lately ive noticed ive had trbl studying for school (im 24, in uni). im not saying its related.. but thats what motivated me to research the issue.. because i havent done any other drugs, or anything that would lead to problems with memory/concentration

once again, so i dnt get flamed, im not sayin steroids are the reason.. jus syaing thats what made me ask other members here

I do not think you were on or had enough of this in your system to do any damage. What was your usage months back? Prob just the time of year, holidays, semester almost over with, etc. I wouldn't stress it or the more you try to correlate the two the more you believe it is the tbol and you will just give up in school. Keep pushing, I graduated and didn't have all A's but I graduated and that's all that matters.
