Sammy really made that band rock...

I think some other albums I really enjoy from way back (not necessarily my top 5)
    Paranoid - Black Sabbath
    Alligator Lady - Cameo
    ZZTop - Eliminator

In 78 I saw Led Zeppelin at the Oakland Arena.... there were about 104,000 people there... we camped out over night waiting in line

Saw Ted Nugent in concert maybe 6 times..

When I was a kid, I made it a point to go to every single "Day on the Green"... It's easier to count the ones I missed. For $12 you got to see about 5 or 6 major bands... and it went from about 10am to 7 at night or so....

I missed the animal tour by Pink Floyd
    missed Rolling Stones....
    missed KISS
    missed Queen
    missed CCR
    missed Bowie - Ziggy Stardust
    missed DEVO
Missed Grateful Dead.... how'd I do that?
    Missed the Ramones
    missed stevie ray vaughn
    missed talking heads

that's just the rock bands... been to several country councerts, a few "other" doc severenson for example...

some of these I'm not sure about... been along time and there was much partaking of certain substances....

so say a conservative number for the number of bands that play is 6 on a day on the green, and say I go to 6 concerts a year (conservative).... with 4 years of going before going in the military, you can easily see there were hundreds of bands. I continued going as I could in georgia and germany.... left the military, and it started petering out some.... then several years ago I started going to concerts again.... minus the partaking of certain chemical substances

(I have too much time on my hands here)

although never seen, I liked Stevie Ray Vaughn better than clapton...

I understand... i've had this very conversation more times than I can remember. I am looking at it from a pure technician standpoint, on a complex rifs per second and unusual chord combinations....... when joe plays, it is like a 90 minute guitar solo, very complex.... you NEVER see anyone emulating him.... another that comes to mind that is pretty good, not on the same level as Joe, but Steve Via....

did you ever see the show with Ralph Machio called "CrossRoads"? It featured Steve Vai in there as the devils guitar player.... if you have never seen the movie, and like battling guitars.... this is a MUST

...but usually when I have this conversation, others consider other things i don't consider.....

....but to be honest, even Clapton admitted that when it comes to just jamming (some improv), and how the riffs flow, Clapton admitted that he must think from one section of riffs to the next, which is something that Stevie Ray Vaughn didn't have to do.... the riffs just flowed, no pausing, pure flow, and it came natural and easily for him.... Clapton said in that regard, he paled in comparison to SRV.....

have you ever been to a concert and witnessed the phenomenon of Satriani....

My mouth was hanging open in amazement for almost 2 hours..... and I've seen many many guitar solos....
