    Some will argue Blue Cheer, Hendrix, The Who, even the Beatles. Let's not forget Deep Purple and Steppenwolf too.

    Those bands definitely have heavy elements, but the heavy metal sound was CLEARLY started by Sabbath. Nobody was heavier, and they had the dark sound to go with it.

    I'm surprised, but I don't recall anybody mentioning Testament yet? Alex Skolnick is a fvcking AMAZING guitarist.
    tempo of the damned isnt a bad album, great cover on dirty deeds done dirt cheap on it!!

    the ballod by testament is un real . that song will remove you from your body.
