except ozzy had a mainstream sound. its oldschool mall metal. venom holds the roots of underground metal.

This I agree with. Just wanted to give credit where it was due, but yes - Venom most certainly started something that became huge!

That was me - I was into alot of the 80's early 90's hardcore bands - mostly NY based but other's as well.

its stayed remarkably nu-metal free, thank fvck lol. nothin worse than big shouts for w@nkin park, soggy bizcut etc lol. only thing i hate about metal festivals these days, you have 6-8 of these crappy bands on the bill to appeal to the masses.

To me, Korn was hugely responsible for the birth of nu-metal. Korn is ok, but I don't generally like nu-metal. Godsmack? Ugh
