Yes do both if u cannot squat...
Leg press Is great for overall leg, glutenand Hamm development... Do them deep, all the way in
IMO the hack squat should be performed as follows...
Squat down to a depth no deeper than parallel, pause for a second so all the weight is on your quads and the elasticity of the fibers goes (that kind of recoil you get when bouncing out of the bottom) then press up making sure to keep knees soft and don't lock out...
To do them like this you will probably need to half the weight that you use when doing full depth hack squats...
The reason being when you do hack squats deep your hips lift and the lower back rounds out... Then to get the weight moving again you erect the spine and drive the weight with glutes and lower back b4 your quads even do any work...
Hacks are not a power movement so go light and try this technique out.... Anyone try it... I learned it from vinny galante and it is excellent
Forgot to point out that hacks when done like that really isolate the quads and put much of the emphasis on the front of the thigh...

Dam Base I did the hacks they way you said two days ago and now I can not walk. LOL. Only used 200 pounds and quads are sore as hell. How do I get Hammy to fell like that?
