^ it IS possible to censor the net. Especially if the government begins subsidizing the infrastructure building (ie the actual telephone poles that carry the internet). The reason they havent already (actually they have already started) is because it is still illegal. If they control the infrastructure they can control what goes through it. Not to mention they could force ISP to not display certain pages or force verisign to revoke the domain name of illicit websites. two simple ways to censor the net.
if someone in say, Poland set up a certain type website, wouldnt that have to be banned at the source? what about IP addresses? we saw how handy a certain ex-member was with those.
if America ban portions of the net wouldnt alot of laws have to be passed or amended? there would be massive financial implications also not to mention contravening human rights
oh i never think it would happen in the US, I was just saying it is possible to actually block content on the net. I dont think it would have to be done at the source. Think of it as a software you install on your computer so you kids cant access porn or other things, then do it for everyone in the country.
All kinds of laws would have to be passed. It would be huge news and all kinds of companies would lobby to stop it.
