for someone that is clearly inexperienced with nutrition, pushing it anymore than 2lbs a week could really backfire. Its one thing if he knew all the macros he needed such as protein intake. But as you stated in your previous post. He doesn't. Therefore i was just trying to keep him going down the safe road.
I see where you're trying to go with that; however, stating to somebody that losing anymore than 1/2lb a week will probably cause them to lose LBM is rubbish. What happens when he does well and loses 2lbs a week, but now he's scared he's losing muscle mass so he increases calories.
This isn't rocket science. It's pretty easy to advise someone to post their diet and tell them to spend 20 buck on some BF calipers and keep us updated so we can make adjustments.
Truth is at his current state, he could probably lose quite a bit of fat without dropping any LBM. If somebody told me to diet my ass off, train my ass off and I could lose 2lbs a month...I would want to do aas too.
To the OP: You stated that you had a good base. Concentrate on losing the weight. It won't really even matter if you lose a bit of muscle b/c as you start leaning out you'll look better and feel better than ever before.
