There was a gunman at the law school I used to go to that killed 4 of the teachers and was turning on students when a retired police officer pulled his gun (which he was not allowed to have on campus) and ended it.

There you go. All these laws they keep coming up to restrict gun owners only makes it harder for the people who carry legally, not the criminals. Crimes that are committed by legal gun owners are something like .01% or less so how is restricting people who carry legally going to help anything? Typical government logic.

Yeah, that's also how the thinking up in San Fran County. A lot of Govmt likes to put it in the minds of people that if you want to keep a gun you must be up to no good. They (San Fran County) literally only issues like 10 permits a year for the entire county, meaning 99.9% of all applicants get denied. The need to carry is to have at least a fighting chance against those who do have the bad habits. Like slfmade stated, there are indeed really bad dudes out there doing stupid things like shooting the first person they see, because they want to get accepted into some gang. If you and me are at that gas station that he mentioned, you can count on me having your back. And if that happens, when the dust settles, you might have a different opinion about the matter.

Home defense under the bed: Ruger .357 magnum (will never jam)

.45 is my favorite round just can't carry as many bullets and more expensive to shoot than a 9mm, not even going to get into rifles

Been looking at glocks for a while and am thinking about purchasing a 9mm subcompact with those night sights. A buddy of mine has a glock, standard .40, which I've shot many times and really like, but it's just too big to conceal.

I'm looking for something concealable with a mild recoil. It'll mainly be kept in the house for protection, but will be carried on occasion and taken to the range regularly. I don't need a gun thats gonna blow craters in things, just something thats practical and my gf can actually use if needed.

I thought about the Glock for both myself and my girl. I shot it along with the Sig P220 And P226. I ended up buying the sigs. If you want subcompact...you should seriously look at the Sig P220 Subcompact. Great Gun...you can change out barrels if want a larger/smaller caliber. IMO I think the Sigs are much better than glocks...more dependable.

Here's my take on my glock 27 40 cal compact. It's a great gun, with a good power to size ratio. Its nice in the glove compartment of my car, or occasionally in my jacket moving from point a to b in the city. However, its not a great carry gun- it can feel like a brick when loaded. A buddy went for a really small gun.. i used to break his balls about it being for women. But when he steps out everyday he has it in his waste and you'd never know, and he doesnt even think about it. I couldnt do that with my glock- its always on your mind because of its weight.

Always remember not to load a full clip with hallow points. Its best to do every other round. Hallow points have trouble staying true after going through glass or walls.

Ruger SR9c with a crimson trace laser grip. Holds 10+1 with the compact clip in and 17+1 with the standard clip in. Shots like a dream has well over 5000 rounds through it! Carry it everywhere, and have a small safe mounted under my backseat in my truck that I lock it in when I'm at places they don't allow guns (courthouses, schools, etc.) we can carry in bars here now though.

You'd have a very difficult time presenting a fact-based argument proving Sigs are more dependable than Glocks and vice-versa. They are both very well known firearms manufacturers with great reputations. It irks me when people do that. Glocks account for 65% of all handgun sales in the United States, thats got to be worth something. When speaking about the two brands, preference comes down to features.

I myself prefer the features of Glocks over other handguns, thats not to say I wouldn't recommend a Sig as they are great firearms used as standard issue by many police departments as are Glocks. It's down to features.

A good holster, proper carrying belt and technique go a long way when dealing with the weight of the weapon. When you first start carrying any weapon it is going to feel odd, but with daily use/wearing you get used to it pretty quickly. Once I put my weapon on for the day I don't notice it at all until I take it off.

LOL...remember when SF banned guns? Then all the "homeboys" from Oakland got the word that they could run unopposed and started heading over to SF to cause trouble...funny how fast that ban got struck down.

The standard according to who? Thats the thing...if you're working in Federal Law Enfor***ent...Glock is the standard. Arguments can be made on both sides, and what you end up with are two great handguns that function on par with each other. I've never had my Glock jam or malfunction in any way with thousands of rounds of shitty Russian ammo through it...I'm sure you can find plenty of Sig owners that will tell you the exact same thing.

I love and have no problems carrying the full size Glock 40cal. Sure it's hefty but I like the reminder that it's there. I carry both in the back on the waist and a shoulder holster under a jacket. If you know what to look for sure you can tell I'm carrying but to 99% of the population can't tell. In the decade and a half I've had the gun I've only had jams when I used non-Glock brand hi-cap clips. Other than that, no problems.

It list the states that allow open carry of a firearm you might be surprised. I found out that I live in a state that you can open carry without, yes I said without a permit. You just can't travell in a car with a gun without a permit.
