Yes aspirins does work. It's correct in saying that it thins the blood. A simple explanation is: looking at the average safe blood pressure 120/80. The first number is the initial pump and the effort it takes to pump. The thicker the blood is the more effort it takes. The second number is the pressure on the veins. So thick blood means more effort and more pressure. So your heart is working twice as hard just to keep a stable supply of blood to the brain.
