Do you prefer shoulder press standing or sitting?

Do you prefer shoulder press standing or sitting? Reasons? Barbells or dumbells? I used to do sitting dumbells, but thinking that standing barbell may be better.

My personal preference is sitting for most shoulder exercises. I used to stand but I found with heavier weights I would cheat by bending my legs and thrusting up. From a sitting position I find a better isolation in my shoulders using dumb bells and it feels like a more isolated contraction. I also use the military press with the L-shaped handle grip. I use three iterations. 6 sets facing out with my hand on the lower (perpendicular) bar for contraction of the clavicle aspect of the delt; 6 sets with hand on parallel bar for contraction of acromial delt; 6 sets facing the machine, parallel bar for contraction of spinal delt and supraspinatus.

For me aways sitting. I find the heavier I go the more I cheat as well when standing. It is not intentional but it allows for less than perfect form

When seated I keep my back plastered to the bench and can really focus on my shoulders

Always seated. I found early on that my lower back wasn't up for a heavy weight over my head. I switch between barbell and dumbells but I generally only do behind the neck presses with barbell as I like the motion more than the standard military press.

All variations are the best for building mass on the shoulders. The focus should be more on the effort and technique that goes into each exercise rather than the variation itself

Excellent point. I see too many people lifting way more weight than they should. At some point, their form breaks and their ROM sucks. Bad form and poor ROM leads to injury and under developed muscles.....but people seem more interested in showing off than lifting correctly.

Always sit. It only takes a second to mess your back up and a lifetime to repair it. Nice strict form while seated with benefit you way more. Unless you are one of those crossfit people ( which i am not). Lol

I always sit as well, mainly for the same reason stated above. I stick to dumbbells personally, haven't moved up high enough in weight to warrant the use of barbell.

I'm already losing my mind. I'll probably be drooling on myself in 5 more years so if you make it another 50 you'll be far better off than me!!! Lol

Seated for me allows for better isolation than a standing military, allthough I think the standing military press built my shoulders, I now favour seated db press followed by some Arnold presses, maybe 1/4 w/os I'll do seated bb on the smith pyramid up to max the drop set all the way back down
