What's the difference between an American and a Canadian? A Canadian is an unarmed American with health care.![]()
another new Canadian member. and just to point out we have free healthcare cause we pay taxes up the ass!!
Must be something good about smerican health care. I see old people going there all the time to stay alive if they have the money. I would pay for that. I might be a little pissed walking into emergency and paying 10 bucks for a band aid though. Lol
It's likely "accessibility". Canadian healthcare is rationed. That's not meant to be a criticism, rather a matter of fact. In the USA, accessibility isn't necessarily restricted per se (unless you have NO insurance) and cash is king - i.e. if you have cash, accessibility isn't so much a factor. That's why Canadians who can afford it, travel south and pay cash for services they may otherwise have to wait for under a universal health plan where accessibility isn't determined by the insurance you have or how much you're willing to pay. A common example is diagnostic imaging. I know a number of Canadians who have traveled from Ontario to Buffalo, NY for MRIs that they can get the same day versus non-urgent MRIs in Canada that they may have to wait several months for.Originally Posted by capetown
I wouldn't say the US healthcare system is superior by any means. There are many problems notwithstanding over utilization, redundancies, and variable coverage especially among the uninsured. Moreover, when you compare healthcare outcomes and overall survival between Canada and the US, Canada still outperforms the US.
but you also have to realize our healthcare system in canada is over abused. you see so many times people going to the doctors for the stupidest things just cause its free. once my friend got in an accident on his motorcycle and his entire body was bleeding, but they made him wait 2.5 hrs before seeing a doctor at the hospital cause it was so packed. also we dont have private clinics or specialist due to the free healthcare. so for example when my uncle wanted to get treated for cancer he got up and came to the states because he would rather go to a private clinic where he can pay large amounts of money but know he is receiving the top care possible.
I guess both have their pros and cons, however overall canadians are healthier than american.
Dude, this thread still lives on! Loving Canadians and loving American haters! Lol
Reporting in, in the middle of an awesome Canadian Summer!!
Unless your from Toronto area, my summer is awesome-er!Originally Posted by kmdietri

Yup, I'm about to start a cycle of medistar testex (cyponate) and I've tried sustain before. Completely painless injections and they've been around for quite some time. Some people question the potency, but i know lots of people who use and enjoy the brand unanimously.Originally Posted by thex95

I suppose u might have a bias opinion being a city worker but me as an ordinary tax payer... He's aiming to decrease spending to decrease my taxes... I hate that m dollars pay garbage men 30/hour when otherwise they have no skills...but I don't like the job cuts, they affect us allOriginally Posted by gonejeepin
well im american but my wife is Canadian, so not sure how to chime in.
GO Canadica!

Go Amerianada

Yeah my opinion can be considerred biased, but.... Garbage men do not get 30$/hr, its 26.85$ and no they aren't educated, but believe me, throwing 25 tonne of disgusting slop in 100 degree weather or -25 weather, they earn it, I did it for a year and it was hell. As for cuts, well, he's like any other politician, says one thing, does another ..... But I do agree there is a lot of $ pissed away by city hall whether it be for certain aspects of municipal services or overpaid councillors...... Then again mayor miller was nothing special either. Anyways, toronto is great either way and we are steering this thread off topic a little.

Well considering I started this thread, and the topic is "Canadians only" it was a ploy to get people talking... Either way, its a useless to talk politics and government... Everyone's getting screwed one way or another! Us Canadians are just better at taking it! That's why were always happy!!!Originally Posted by gonejeepin

Luckily I did not. Actually, the last jays game I watched was in 1992 or 1993 when Joe Carter hit the homer for the back-to-back world series win. 20 years ago...I was about 5 years old lol that's terrible isn't itOriginally Posted by gonejeepin
Well all you missed was a 16-0 loss, and yeah its sad the last time they were a contender was 20 years ago...... You a Leafs fan?
Sure am! But I stay realistic and don't expect anything substantial for a few more years. I'd love to see them win, but it's at least fun to watch the first 10 games of the season lol. It'd be nice if canadian teams could keep good Canadian players. They all seem to head southOriginally Posted by gonejeepin
Yeah seems that way, I think part of the problem with the Leafs is that toronto is such a hockey market that the success of the team is near irrelevant to its success as a business. Look at all the amazing players that have moved in the last couple months or have been free agents and the Leafs didn't bother to take a shot at them, especiall a canadian star like Nash. Dah well, I just want a stanley cup once in my lifetime, hopefully that's not too much to ask.
I'll drink to that!Originally Posted by gonejeepin
