I saw at least 5 cars pass by and just went around him. I felt bad for the guy. He's struggling and soaking wet. So I park my car and run over there to help him. It was raining so hard and it was quite dark. So we finally get the car out of the street and into a parking spot.
I just waved and ran back to my car.
Well, today, I'm coming home from work and about to turn into my neighborhood. The same guy is behind me. Directly in front of me are 2 kids crossing the street, so I slowed down and stopped. I drive a large SUV and he has a G35 so he probably couldn't see the kids crossing. Anyway, he starts to honk repeatedly. As soon as the kids pass... I take off. At this point he had to have seen the kids and I figured he would understand why I stopped. Not so. He went around me very aggressively and flipped me off. He floored it and took off.
I knew he didn't know who I was as it was dark and raining the night I helped him. But I wanted to let him know. So I followed him to his house, a block away from mine. Parked my car and got out. He was just getting out of his car. This kid couldn't be more than 18 years old. You could instantly tell he began to get really nervous and probably regretting his decision to flip me off at that point. But I wasn't there for a fight. I said.. "Hey man.. remember when your car was stalled, and everyone drove right passed you? I was the guy that came over and helped you out. Just wanted you to know that." - the entire time there was an older gentleman in the garage starring at me. I assumed it was his father.
The kid let out a deep sigh. Looked disappointed. So I just turned around, got in my car and drove off.
About 10 minutes later he knocked on my door. The kid was VERY apologetic. Said he felt terrible and thanked me for helping him with his stalled car. I was shocked and happy to hear this from him. I told him no problem kid, you did the right thing in the end and that's all that matters. As he walked away, I noticed the older gentleman standing in front of my house. He looked at me and gave me a nod.
Kids will be kids, but it's really good to know that there are great parents out there. That had to be his dad and he had to have made him apologize.
