Personally I've never said immediate PWO nutrition is useless. What I have said is that it's not necessary. Bear in mind the context. We'd get several posts per week in this section, all going something like this:

I lift for an hour and then do cardio right after, but i'm worried that I'm burning up all my muscle. Should I have my PWO shake in between lifting and cardio, or is it ok to have right after the cardio? PLEASE HELP!!!

It has also been perpetuated by supplement companies trying to push their 'lightning fast' PWO carb matrix's... and every kid who reads a bodybuilding mag runs out and wastes their money buying this useless crap when they can do just as well with cheap oats or something of the like.

IMO there is WAY too much emphasis put on PWO meal timing, when in fact, it has very little if any overall impact.

I don't think anybody ever stated that PWO nutrition is broscience. What IS broscience is the magical anabolic window that will close if you don't eat your PWO nutrtition within exactly 1.343544343 hours PWO.

ya I largely agree with that and it looks like we are on the same page.

With regards to the PWO carbs in the form of oats or another form I found one interesting point in one of those studies. It explains that intaking maltodextrin, dextrose or another slow acting carb has no significant affect on muscle synthesis. I found this interesting because I personally use maltodextrin because its cheap and easy to just carry in a shaker cape and tastes like nothing. Their are so many retarded "carb blends" that cost 10 times as much and provide the same benifit.

also some people do specifically say it is bro science, but I am not going to name names

Except maltodextrine and dextrose are both forms of sugar. Dextrose is corn sugar and malto is some other one o can't remember. Oats have no added sugar and therefore trump all IMO

Agreed. Personally, i'm not a fan of eating straight sugar (especially engineered sugar) for any reason. Oats are dirt cheap and as you mentioned, are no less capable of doing the job than 'fast acting' carb sources.

sorry i worded that first part weird. It was contrasting between maltodextrin and dextrose (fast acting carbs) vs a slow acting carb in the effects of immediate post workout nutrition. The study found no significant differences.

ya the maltodextrin or oats thing I really beleive falls into the "each to their own" catagory. Personally I prefer malto for the ease of use but I definetly understand why you prefer oats.

and not naming names but, http://forums.steroid.com/showthread...=#.URkQM6VX3D4
