Mate you have nearly 30 years combined of memories from your pooches, that's something to be very thankful for. And many many more years of memories to create with your wife and little boy. All the best mate.

Its great what you did for those dogs and they showed you so much love with their loyalty!!!!
Thanks for reminding me of this brother... you're right about (so many) more needing our help. I have fantasies of getting pure breeds, etc. which I've always wanted - but I know when it comes down to it, we'll be rescuing another one or two from a shelter. Tis' the right thing to do when you're a true dog lover, IMO.

That it is D, but we'll pull through. Thanks man.

Many people do not have the strength or heart to not let their pets suffer anymore and the result is unthinkable. It may not be easy, but it shows that you love your friend beyond words, and that's admirable.
Thanks for your warm words GL... that's what we're trying to do... think about the dog and not ourselves. This one isn't as in bad of shape as our girl was, but in hindsight we let it go on for too long with her. Not TERRIBLY long, but too long nonetheless. Her suffering could have (and should have) ended sooner if we had been more on the ball and gotten our heads out of our asses. We're trying not to make the same mistake twice.

I feel the exact same way man... you guys are the best support group anybody could ask for.

So I know how much your suffering ... .. I'm so sorry bro
Thanks bro. I keep telling people over and over - I don't mean to sound preachy, but please, love that dog to death and treat every day as if it were his last. Never take him or his love for granted (that's the one thing I know we did right... we ALWAYS appreciated them and were aware of what we had) and when that time comes around, you'll know you did right by him and provided the best quality of life possible. That's all we can do for them.

Damn dude, I'm sorry to hear all this. Glad to hear your bro recovered so nicely... hope the same happens for your friend. That's some hard times right there.

Thanks Biker... a man with 3 dogs is a dog lover for sure. I know I don't have to tell you, but same thing I told sirmike...

I'm really hoping brother!! One more MAJOR hurdle to get over and then hopefully we'll have some peace and stability in our lives.

Nothing can ever replace those family members...but hopefully after some time you will decide to add to your family again.

    Best of luck to you.
Wow bro, that's rough and trust me I know exactly what you're going through - both of mine were pretty much deaf (look how I'm referring to both of them in the past tense when I still have my boy right next to me... ugh) but at least had their sight. Still sucks though.

How's his health otherwise? Hip joints, etc? Labs almost always have a tough time with hip dysplasia...

Thanks Hunter... same to you brother. It's a helluva tough thing to go through when you love them as much as we do.

Very true brother and believe me, I'm very thankful for the amount of time we had... I remember talking about how they were old when they were 8... then 10.... then 12... seemed like they'd never go... still tearing ass in the yard at 13... but the last year or so hasn't been good for either of them. It's just that time...

    Thx my friend.
