If you live out in the country you can get a house that would go for $500,000 (USA median) for about $100,000-$150-000.

If you want to live in one of the bigger cities then expect to pay close to double that.


Oh, and you can certainly rent nice houses like lovbyts for months at a time. It's generally preferred and a bit cheaper.
