to give you a little background....

....MSM is widely available at feed stores. in the past, race horses put out to pasture/stud quite often had joint problems. Somehow it was discovered that giving a race horse MSM will reduce their arthritic joint pain. From an observational standpoint, the horses bbecome friskey again, and will romp and play in the fields, where they had not been doing so previously. in fact, many experienced horse owners use MSM on their older horses. It is extremely inexpensive.

....msm is a sulphuric based compound and stands for Methylsulfonylmethane. It promotes collegen synthesis, and I believe is a mild anti inflamatory.

....I take somewhere between 5 and 10 grams a day, and have been doing so for over 15 years. Because it improves collegen synthesis, one of the sides, claimed by many, is a more robust, natural growing finger/toe nail. This means you need to clip them more frequently.

You can also read abouut it on wiki here:

Let me know if any other questions

Do you have cartilidge in your knees. I was just diagnosed with arthritis on top of already knowing i do not have any cartalidge and the doc said I had to stop with the squats. I am only doing leg presses and not going down all the way focusing on hamstrings and front quad raises. I already feel my quads shrinking but I have zero pain latelty

yes, i do. how do you know you do not have cartiledge in your knee? MRI?

There are a couple of other things you can do.

Your knee has a bursa. it's a fluid filled sack that sits between the two bones and absorbs impact pressure and aids in reducing friction. Every year, i go in and my doc pulls out this 2" needle filled with hyaluronic acid and injects 1ml each into both knees/bursa. I go back a week later for another two injections, and another week after that for my final two injections. This has really helped me significantly. It's like a "lube job" for the knee.

The other thing you can do is after having the xray/mri, go in and have your knees scoped. I had mine done mar 2012 and am really happy with the results.

Finally, if you truly have NO carteledge in your knee (seems unlikely), you may consider knee replacement. the tech is very good, and you'll be walking in two or three days.

    Things to think abouut!

I 100% have very little to no cartilidge in my knees. I got the lubricant shots a couple of years ago but it didnt do much. I am actually going back again for them in two weeks. I started taking glucosimine and double knee replacements are def in my future but as per dr I am way too young

    mate,

alot of docs are saying this, but the underlying theory is archaic. Knees are today lasting 15 to 20 years. Plus the pain/rehab from the operation is a very small percentage of what it used to be. After your knee replacement, you WILL be walking in 2 to 3 days. and in a couple of weeks, you will be high 90%.

Think of it this way. Your doctor is basically telling you to suffer through another 20+ years of knee misery so that your knees will only have to be replaced once.

But there is NO reason you cannot have your knees replaced a second time.

Personally, I feel your doc is giving you lame advice. If it were me, I'd shop around for a doc that would give me what I need.
