My 1st ATV was a Kawi Mohave 250cc 1986. I sold it to a friend LONG time ago and it still runs last I heard. I was the 1st person to change the rev limiter by swapping out the ECU with one off a motorcycle and re wired it. Ran perfect, just bumped up the RPM range 1K. I should have marketed it but instead I showed one of the mechanics (he didnt think it could be done) and then about 1yr later they showed up in magazines as an upgrade.
