    It Begins...

    Hello everyone,
Wow! 45 days and 100 posts! I'd better get busy ;)
A little background information. I'm 24 and have been working out pretty steadily since I've been 18... That is to say, as steadily as someone like me can work out. Between the 5 years of backpacking and slumming it overseas, working 10 hour days in tiny, hot kitchens, I haven't been able to maintain the discipline that a lot of 9-5ers are privy to.
Regardless, I know a bit about lifting, diet, exercise, I have experimented with many different supplements and have landed, as many of you have, on a pretty constant supply of Protein, Glutamine, and Creatine. I consider myself pretty healthy.
Which comes to why I'm here - I was at the gym the other day, talking with a buddy of mine, and we're chatting back and forth about diet and routines and different exercises, and I realize he's got about 40 lbs on me of muscle... I have worked really hard to try and bulk up - I've gone months doing the 3000-5000 calorie a day diet (of good calories), completely changed my routines, extremely strenuous workouts, quit drinking, smoking, partying, and I've never, ever gained more than 5 lbs of muscle more than my base, which leaves pretty quickly if I stop working out for more than a month (which, as a traveller, can happen alot).
So, I've got a new job which is stable, plans to stay put a while, free access to a gym. I'm biting the bullet and doing a Test routine as soon as I can... That is to say, once my research here is done! But I'll get into that later!

For now, Hello, and nice to meet you all.

For now, Hello, and nice to meet you all.

    Firstly welcome.

You've been working out pretty steadily for 6 years and you've only gained 5lbs? Holy-moly. Please drop all plans to start a cycle and head to the diet section.

Welcome aboard. And I agree with krugerr. You need to get the basics down before cycling.

Should probably have said Kept On 5 lbs. The problem for me has always been that I don't have the ability to keep on a diet like that for any extended period of time - I'm sure if I kept to the workout routine for a year and kept the high-caloric diet the entire time, I could grow quite a bit... However, I don't work in a gym, and unfortunately can't commit myself to those extremes.

    Welcome to the board mate!

Something is NOT dialed in if you gain 5 lbs in multiple years.

    You could be over/under/inadequate training
    improper rest
    not eating as you should
    issues with thyroid

until you concquer the underlying problem with your lack of gains, steroids will only give you temporary results. Hanging on to those gains comes from knowing the basics (see above list)

Maybe you should consult with a legit personal trainer if you can't figure this thing out on your own?

    Good luck!
