True. Unfortunately you can't be everywhere. Today however, a lawsuit would be fruitless. Especially in Texas.

Typically there is at least 2 people in the room just in case any issues arise from reprimanding or terming an employee. I wasn't there. But shortly after I get a phone call and was told that the meeting ended violently. So I rush over to see what's going on, only to find the late employee sitting in the back of a police car, and an ambulance parked and flashing right out front.

I go in and see the manager & the assistant manager laying flat on the ground with more blood than I care to see dripping from open wounds in their faces. He beat the living crap out of both of them. They both have broken noses and the assistant managers' jaw was shattered. Both have swollen eyes.

What's wild is that the guy they wrote up (or attempted to, rather) was about 5'9" and maybe 170 lbs. The others are both 6' and over 200 lbs, not fat either. You would never in a million years guess that this guy had it in him to do this. His attendance record sucked, yes, but when he was at work he really worked hard, was very nice to customers and other employees. Kind of the work-place "jokester" if you will. The type of guy that makes it so hard to get upset with him... Just a good-hearted, goofy guy.

After reviewing surveillance my managers did exactly what they've been trained to do. Somehow the kid snapped and was extremely distraught at the fact that this will go on his record "In Writing", as all previous warning were verbal. When asked to sign the write-up form, he spit on it and threw it back at the manager, at which point he was verbally terminated. That's when all hell broke loose. This guy was a pro, no doubt. He was not swinging at random, he knew exactly what he was doing, blocking and pounding away with incredible force. Those 2 guys were completely out-matched. It's really mind boggling to me. I can't believe someone so silly could cause so much damage. He's the kind of guy that might get bullied by drunks at a bar. Crazy.

Anyway, the staff will be ok. One was released and the other with the shattered jaw is staying. I'll be visiting him again tomorrow. What a day. I may need to change the 2 managers in the room rule to 1 manager and 2 MMA fighters. Jeez!
    Lunk works for you??

I admit that Texas' laws are a little different than most, so I won't guess how a lawsuit like this would fly out there in Texas
