It's a part of culture that obviously a lot of people on here just don't get, but there are a lot of other cultural things that some people just don't get. Look at snake handling for one, but I digress.
Anyways, dog fighting is just stemming from man's need for combat. Instinctively, we're warriors, but we're forcing ourselves to be civilized. That blood lust and desire for combat still is within us.
Look at all the other sports out there, like MMA or boxing. To me, a couple dogs ripping each other apart is a lot less barbaric than watching a couple guys in a ring or cage trying to beat the crap out of one another. Either way, it's all trying to satisfy the same desire. I certainly think it's a lot more civilized than having gladiators in the ring trying to kill each other or feeding criminals to lions.
But now, what do you guys think of other blood sports such as bull fighting? Does the pageantry of that sport make up for the fact that the bull is trying to kill the matador while at the same time, the matador is trying to kill the bull within the time limit?
